Historic brass mill opens to public thanks to dedicated volunteers

SALTFORD Brassmill – the only surviving building with a furnace and working water wheel in the Avon Valley – is opening its doors to the public.

The Brassmill, by the River Avon in Saltford was part of a group of 18th century mills making brass and copper goods. It is cared for by a dedicated group of volunteers making up the Saltford Brassmill Project, who maintain the building and research its history.

It will be open to the public on Saturday, May 12, and Saturday, May 26, between 11am and 3pm. Visit www.brassmill.com or call 01225 872954 for details.
