Cycling events in Bristol will encourage all abilities to take to two wheels

Two cycling events are set to take place in Bristol to encourage cyclist of all abilities to get out and enjoy the outdoors.

Organised by the Evans Cycles RideIt! series, a mountain bike ride will take place on Saturday May 12 followed by a sportive ride on Sunday May 13, both starting out from Didmarton Village Hall in Gloucestershire.

There are three or four marked routes of varying difficulties to choose from at each of the events, ranging from 12 to 90 miles.

The mountain bike ride heads to the pretty Cotswold town of Wooton-under-Edge,where the routes offer a mixture of valley pathways and short steep climbs.

The riding is mainly on bridlewayswith a fantastic2km section of singletrackto enjoy on the longer routes.

The sportive ride takes in Kingswood and the surrounding Gloucestershire landscape, waeving out to Wotton and making a bee-line for the River Severn.

Riding on country lanes there are some spectacular views to be had, along with great climbs.

Evans Cycles RideIt! is also working with Gore Bike Wear to provide a 'Try before you Buy' service which allows participants can test out Gore clothing on the ride and see how it performs. Garmin GPS units pre-loaded with the routes for the day will also be available to hire at the events.

Advance entry fees for adults are 7.50 for the fun road sportive route and 12.50 for all other routes while on the day entries incur an additional surcharge of 2.50 per person. Children under 16 are free when accompanied by a full-paying adult.
